Following the great success for our conferences 2006 and 2008,It is a great pleasure to welcome you in Alexandria, "the pearl of the Mediterranean" for participation in AlexHealth 2009 conference; a great event held by the High Institute of Public Health, Alexandria University dealing with Patient Safety. This multi-disciplinary conference will bring together public health professionals, researchers, clinical practitioners and healthcare managers, information technology, clinical engineering and architecture, to share ideas and experiences to move the patient safety agenda forward from identifying and diagnosing problems to designing and evaluating solutions.

The conference, over three days, will explore existing research activity and contributes to future research, using events including table discussions, interactive workshops, discussion of posters and plenary sessions. The aim of this conference is to promote a dialogue between researchers and policy-makers to develop proposals for further action.

We invite presentations from researchers who are actively engaged in patient safety research and whose work has implications for clinical practice and the improvement of safety. The uses of technology in promoting health versus its environmental impacts will be addressed.

Integrated environmental management in health care facilities is a basic tool for assuring healthcare quality to meet accreditation standards, This will exclusively focus on outdoor and indoor environment of hospitals as well as on infection control, safety of health care providers, hospital waste management, and safe healthcare practices.
